We've bought and tested over 30 ASUS monitors. ASUS, also known as AsusTek, was founded in Taiwan in 1989. They make a wide range of gaming monitors with different resolutions and refresh rates, and they also offer monitors aimed at content creators, including portable monitors. Their gaming monitors often offer great performance, and they're reliable, but in terms of price for performance, they're sometimes beat out by other brands.
ASUS mainly focuses on gaming monitors, so if you're looking for the best ASUS monitor, you'll find a few great gaming options with high refresh rates, like the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM. It's an impressive gaming monitor with a 1440p resolution and 240Hz refresh rate, so you get both crisp images and a high refresh rate, as long as your graphics card can handle that. It has native G-SYNC support, which is ideal if you have an NVIDIA graphics card and want to take full advantage of it. If you're a competitive esports gamer, you might want to consider the ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz PG259QN, which has native G-SYNC support and a higher 360Hz refresh rate but a lower 1080p resolution, so the PG279QM offers a better balance between resolution and refresh rate if you're looking for the best ASUS gaming monitor.
It supports NVIDIA's Reflex Latency Analyzer, which measures the latency of your entire setup, so you know which sources are causing the most lag. It has low input lag with high-frame-rate sources, and even though it increases with 60 fps sources, it's still low. Thanks to its fast response time, motion looks smooth across its entire refresh rate range, and it has a flicker-free backlight to reduce eye strain during long gaming sessions.
While ASUS mainly focuses on gaming monitors, they have a few office-oriented monitors in their ProArt lineup, which mainly focus on color accuracy and photo editing, and the ASUS ProArt Display PA278CV is a great option. It has the same 27-inch, 1440p screen as the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM, which is big enough to open two windows next to each other, and the text clarity is decent. The stand has outstanding ergonomics, providing a very wide swivel range and allowing you to rotate the screen into portrait mode. Its IPS panel also has wide viewing angles, so you can easily share your screen with someone else because the image remains consistent from the sides.
If you're a gamer and don't need the productivity features of the ASUS ProArt Display PA278CV but still want something that costs less than the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM, then check out the ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQ. It has the same 1440p resolution as the PG279QM, but the main difference is that it has a lower 170Hz refresh rate, which is what you can expect for something cheaper. It's impressive for gaming, and its variable refresh rate (VRR) support works with both NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards to reduce screen tearing. It's also great for co-op gaming because it has wide viewing angles and good ergonomics.
It has low input lag for a smooth and responsive gaming experience. Unlike some other ASUS monitors, the input lag doesn't significantly increase at 60Hz, which is great if you want to use it for console gaming. It works well with the PS5 and Xbox Series X and even downscales a 4k @ 60Hz signal, which results in a sharper image than a native 1440p signal. Lastly, motion looks smooth thanks to the quick response time, and it has an optional backlight strobing feature in case you notice any persistence blur.
If you're on a budget, ASUS has a few low-cost monitors, particularly from their TUF Gaming lineup. If that's something you're interested in, then the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM is good. As expected for a low-cost display, it has a smaller screen size and lower resolution than the ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQ, but it still has a higher 240Hz refresh rate that you can overclock to 280Hz, which means that you get a fast gaming experience. This monitor looks best with high-frame-rate games because it has a quick response time at its max refresh rate and low input lag. Even if the response time remains quick with 60Hz signals, the input lag increases at 60 fps, so you'll notice a delay while gaming, which is a common problem with ASUS TUF Gaming monitors. 781b155fdc
