We can help mitigate the risks and eliminate the ever-present hazard of a tumble down slippery stairs. Dean Flooring Company is the leading manufacturer of carpet stair treads that can make slippery wood stairs safer and more beautiful.
Here at Dean Flooring Company, our carpeting stair treads are different from all the rest. We offer some tape- and adhesive-free stair treads that are perfect for home- and business-owners who don't want to risk damaging their stairs. Unlike the competitors, our adhesive-free stair treads are actually slip-resistant.
What's more, with stair treads, carpet only covers a portion of your stairs. For this reason, many people select this option as opposed to full stair carpeting so that the beauty of the stairway isn't covered or compromised.
Our affordable carpet stair treads come in a huge variety of colors and sizes. They're easy to install and clean, and they provide superior traction for everyone in your home - even the family dog. You won't have to worry about elderly family members or young children; they'll be able to navigate stairs easily. Carpet stair treads also reduce noise and help protect expensive hardwood floors from everyday wear and tear.
We have an extensive selection of styles, sizes and patterns in our stair tread collection, but sometimes our customers require something a bit different. If you don't see what you need, it's no problem. We manufacture our products in-house, and we'll make your stair treads according to your exact specifications.
Besides grade-A stair treads, Dean Flooring Company also offers an expansive collection of quality-made area rugs, mats and runner rugs. Update your living space with down-to-earth sisal rugs made with rugged, natural materials or complement your screened-in porch or patio with heavy-duty outdoor area rugs that bring warmth and practicality. You'll also find carpet and mats for your boat, outdoor entrance mats, and specially designed cabin rugs, runners, and mats for your outdoors, mountain, western, southwestern, cabin, and wildlife themed areas.

Traditional & Oriental Stair Treads Oriental rugs are a particular style of rug that originated in Asia. The rugs have beautifully detailed patterns that often include floral designs or scroll work. Most oriental rugs are vibrant and use rich colors to highlight the stunning detail work. Dean Flooring Company offers a large selection of Oriental stair tread rugs to choose from to beautifully accent your stairway and highlight the natural beauty of the wood. Add an oriental rug to your staircase to bring color and life to the space. Dean Flooring Company recommends these styles for any traditional, stately, eclectic or Victorian home. Some options are also ideal for transitional décor schemes. This selection also includes many beautiful, traditional styles that take cues from the centuries-old art of Oriental rug-making but feature more contemporary designs. You can opt for a style with a traditional floral or Oriental border if you don't prefer the busyness of the classic Oriental rug or choose an Oriental-inspired design with transitional scrolls and florals. We offer traditional stair carpet options for every home décor scheme at Dean Flooring Company, including styles in beige, blue, yellow, green and maroon. Each order of carpet stair treads comes in sets of 15 or 13, but we're happy to work with you if you need a custom quantity. Our Oriental rugs are made using high-quality materials. Although they look like they've been crafted by hand in Asia, they're actually made in the U.S. for a high-quality yet affordable appeal. The stair-size rugs have finished edges and are chosen for quality as well as looks. The durable rugs are suitable for use in high-traffic stairways and the intricate patterns help hide stains and dirt. Oriental rugs are easy to clean and are made using special dyes to ensure the colors will not bleed or fade. Our Oriental stair treads vary in price according to size, shape, pattern and material, though most are surprisingly affordable. Choose your favorite patterns and colors today to add style and warmth to your home.
You can use rug stair treads on hardwood, laminate or carpeted stairs equally effectively. To ensure that the treads themselves don't slip underfoot and cause more trouble than they prevent, you can use adhesive strips and/or carpet tacks to fasten each tread to its step, or you can use an adhesive that you apply directly to the stair treads, which secures the pieces of carpeting above them. If your stairs are outside, use peel and stick outdoor stair treads. Some products, such as Roberts Max Grip carpet installation tape, can be used indoors or outdoors.
Regardless of which method you use to secure your rug stair treads, begin by cleaning the stairs. If your stairs are covered with carpet, vacuum the stairs thoroughly. Mop hardwood or laminate steps with a dry terrycloth or microfiber mop. If they are particularly dirty, clean them with a damp cloth and wipe them dry.
Cut four pieces of double-sided carpet tape, one for each edge of a stair tread. Remove the backing from one side of each strip, and press the strips into place around the edges of the back of the tread. Repeat this with the remaining stair treads.
Remove the backing from the other side of the strips of tape on one stair tread. Center the tread in the middle of the bottom step on the staircase. Press the adhesive onto the stair, securing the tread in place. Repeat this with the remaining stairs.
Fasten the treads with carpet tacks if your stairs are already carpeted. Insert three carpet tacks in the center of each stair tread and another tack in each corner, making a total of seven tacks per stair. You can do this in addition to or instead of using adhesive.
To apply a tread adhesive directly to your stairs, such as Tread-Lock, thoroughly clean and dry the tread surfaces. Apply the adhesive to the back of the stair tread material and firmly press into place. Secure the treads with brad nails along the back to hold the treads more firmly in place.
You can use carpet tacks on hardwood or laminate stairs instead of carpet tape, but the tacks leave small holes in the floor. Some stair tread manufacturers recommend placing nonskid pads under each tread for extra traction. If you do so, first fasten the pads to the treads with carpet tape, and then fasten the other side of the pads to the stairs, also with carpet tape.
To center the tread, we measured the length of the step, subtracted the length of the carpet runner, and then divided by two. We used a pencil to mark that measurement on the left and right of the step. 781b155fdc
